Have you made a financial contribution to celebrate James Madison College’s 40th Anniversary? Please consider making your most generous annual gift by visiting the JMC Website at www.jmc.msu.edu and click “Make a gift to Madison” across the top of the home page. Donations made using MSU’s secure internet site during December or checks mailed with a postmark on or before the 31st will receive 2007 receipts for tax purposes. If you have not made your gift this year or would like to make an additional gift, please do so today! Madison Senior Wins Marshall Scholarship
Monica Mukerjee (IR/psychology) will pursue a master's of science degree at Oxford University in Oxford, England, and conduct groundbreaking research on the policies and impacts of forced migration. Her studies will include developing strategies to prevent sexual exploitation of children by aid workers in refugee camps in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The award provides for two years of study in the United Kingdom. Mukerjee is also a 2007 Truman Scholar, and the recipient of a Spartan Scholarship, among others. http://newsroom.msu.edu/site/indexer/3267/content.htm
Professor Edozie Receives the MSU Lilly Teaching Award
Madison Professor Rita Kiki Edozie is the recipient of an MSU Lilly Teaching Fellowship for 2007-2008. Her fellowship project is titled: "Politics & Prose: Reading Across the Curriculum and Teaching in the Public and International Affairs Classroom." http://fod.msu.edu/lillyFellow/currentfellows.asp
Professor Pegler-Gordon is an MSU Teacher Scholar
Professor Anna Pegler-Gordon has been awarded MSU's Teacher-Scholar Award. These awards are made to six members of the faculty from the ranks of instructor, assistant professor and associate professor who early in their careers have earned the respect of students and colleagues for their devotion to and skill in teaching. http://jmc.msu.edu/faculty/show.asp?id=47
Madison Students are Truman nominees
Madison students Ted Madsen (IR), from Anchorage AK, and Yvette Efevbera (IR), from Big Rapids MI, have been selected by MSU’s nominating committee as Truman Scholar nominees for the 2008 competition. The Truman Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships for college students to attend graduate school in preparation for careers in government or elsewhere in public services. Madison Student Recognized for Academic Achievement
Matthew Hasho (PTCD/SRP, senior), of Okemos, was one of six MSU students recognized with an MSU Board of Trustees Award for having the highest scholastic averages at the close of their last semester in attendance.
