Year-End Reminder

Have you made a financial contribution to JMC in 2006?  Private support from alumni and friends helps to advance Madison’s leadership in undergraduate education.  Please visit the JMC Website www.jmc.msu.edu and click “Make a gift to Madison” on the home page.  Gifts made using MSU’s secure internet site during December or checks mailed with a postmark on or before the 31st will receive 2006 receipts for tax purposes.  If you have not made your gift this year or would like to make an additional gift, please take action today!  We appreciate your support. 

Outstanding Alumni Awards

The James Madison College Alumni Association Board of Directors sponsors two annual awards to honor distinguished alumni. The Distinguished Alumnus and Honorary Alumnus awards have been established to acknowledge those individuals who have positively represented the college or have significantly contributed to the progress of the college.

Distinguished Alumni and Honorary Alumni are nominated by fellow alumni and members of the college faculty and administration.  Award recipients are selected by the awards committee appointed by the JMCAA Board of Directors.  Distinguished Alumni recipients must be alumni of James Madison College; have achieved prominence in their career; have demonstrated service to James Madison College through its alumni activities academic programs, financial contributions, or in other important capacities.  Honorary Alumni are non-graduates of James Madison College whose efforts have significantly contributed to the progress and development of the college.

Past Award Recipients:

The awards are typically presented at the James Madison College spring commencement but may be presented at other appropriate events. 

The deadline each year to make a nomination is January 30.  Send a letter of recommendation with biographical information about the nominee to Kim Allan at allank@msu.edu. 

We Invite You to Get Involved in Your Alumni Association

The James Madison Alumni Association (JMCAA) plays an instrumental role in the life of Madison College.  We are looking for alumni to serve on the Board of Directors or one of our committees.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kendra (Howard) Averett or Kim Allan. The board meets four times a year and is not limited to Lansing area residents (via teleconferencing).  Kendra can be reached at akaken52@hotmail.com.  Or contact Kim Allan, Director of Alumni and Public Relations, at allank@msu.edu and she will forward your interest to the JMCAA board.
